Romantic Windy Point Campground Wedding
If you’re interested in a Windy Point Campground wedding, this information will help you better understand the process of reserving this space and planning your experience. Windy Point Campground is a large camping area located in White River National Forest between Keystone and Breckenridge, Colorado. The space overlooks the lovely Lake Dillon, can accommodate up to 100 people, and is dog friendly!
Moreover, a large covered shelter with a paved recreation space is available to rent where you can set up your own tables & chairs, play games, dance, and enjoy quality time. There are also bathrooms available on site. It is worth noting that you need to either use batteries or supply your own electricity if you want amplified sound. Windy Point Campground is a great alternative to Sapphire Point in Breckenridge.
Tips for Getting Married at Windy Point Campground
Located at an elevation of 9,000 feet, it is important to wear layers as the weather can significantly change at any given time. As the name suggests, the wind can be quite strong so don’t set up anything that can break or become damaged. Be sure to practice the 7 principles of Leave No Trace and always leave the site better than you find it. Drink lots of water and consume alcohol somewhat slowly especially if you are coming from sea level. Be mindful of your volume later in the evening (10pm), and be respectful of wildlife and others in the area.

Things to do at Windy Point Campground
They don’t call it Windy Point for nothing! So be one with the breeze and rent a sailboat or pontoon at the Dillon Marina. If a power boat is more your thing, check out the Frisco Bay Marina. Floating and exercising on the water also feels amazing so be sure to spend a day kayaking or standup paddle boarding. Unwind at your campsite with lawn games like cornhole and ladder toss. Wish upon a shooting star and remember to satisfy your sweet tooth with s’mores by your campfire!
Windy Point Campground Wedding Photos
All of these photographs are from a 100 person wedding. Before we began specializing in elopements, we photographed over 100 weddings. Overall, these portraits show a more private and intimate feel commonly found with elopements. We achieved these portraits because this couple made plenty of time to spend together privately throughout their Windy Point Campground wedding. Of course, there was still plenty of time to celebrate and relax with guests all evening! With so much experience in both intimate elopements and larger weddings, your photographs will perfectly depict the wide range of emotions throughout your day!
During their private time together, these newlyweds explored the lush landscapes and fresh pine. The groom even had a romantic and clandestine tent set up with a plush mattress sprinkled with rose petals and battery powered candles! They even took in the refreshing and magnificent sunset, grounded down, and fully connected together on their wedding day.

We are planning a wedding for july 2019, at windy point. What did you use for powering your lights?
Hi Madeline!
I am not quite certain what my clients used, but I do believe they had an external power source and ran extension cords throughout the venue. Hopefully this helps. Best of luck with all your wedding planning! <3 Let me know if you are still looking for a wedding photographer. I would love the opportunity to tell you more about our services.
Warmly,
Meg
