Lush Crested Butte Intimate Wedding at Peanut Lake
Crested Butte Intimate Wedding at Peanut Lake
This Crested Butte Intimate Wedding at Peanut Lake was purely lush, moody, and romantic. Peanut Lake is accessible via the Lower Lake Trail, which has a 6.4 mile hike around the area rated as easy. You can see Gothic Mountain, Snodgrass Mountain, and Mount Crested Butte along the way. You can also access Peanut Lake via a nearby parking area and short walk making this location great if you have guests with limited mobility. It costs $2,000 to reserve Peanut Lake.

Crested Butte Land Trust Wedding
Peanut Lake is a part of the Crested Butte Land Trust. This Land Trust was established in 1991 and has conserved thousands of acres in the Gunnison Valley. To this day, it actively protects the land and wildlife of Crested Butte. If you get married outdoors, ensure that you always follow the 7 principles of Leave No Trace. Know the rules and make sure it’s allowed if you plan to set up chairs, tables, an arch, or anything else that could potentially be damaging to the land. Remember that you need to purchase a permit in order to set up in this way and host a Crested Butte Land Trust wedding, as well as many other locations throughout Colorado.

Downtown Crested Butte Wedding Reception
If you’re looking for a great place to eat after your wedding, downtown Crested Butte has delicious food with a lovely atmosphere! Laura & Alexe had their Crested Butte wedding reception at Sunflower Cafe, and the indoor/outdoor space was perfect for them and their guests. If you are considering this area for your reception, keep in mind that most restaurants close around 9pm. Make sure you have reservations, and you might even consider hiring a private caterer or chef to cook at your airbnb.
In Honor of Alexe Mericle
Not quite 5 years after this Crested Butte intimate wedding on August 3rd, 2022, Alexe Mericle fell and died while climbing Crestone Needle with Laura. Climbing and living life to the fullest is what Alexe loved to do. Adventure personified, he and Laura climbed Mount Kilimanjaro during their honeymoon. 14ers had become routine, and he was used to helping and saving people’s lives in his work as a paramedic.
We cannot imagine what Laura has been through. Her strength and resilience is incredible, profound, and inspiring. Laura and Alexe’s intimate wedding was one of the very first we ever photographed. Alexe’s light shined brightly, and he had a radiant, magnetic pull about him. You could truly sense his kindness and altruism just by glancing in his eyes.
We are updating this blog to reflect our newer editing style and to make it more easily found by couples like Laura & Alexe who are passionate about adventures with their partner. For every elopement and intimate wedding we photograph in Crested Butte, we will donate to the Go Fund Me Page for Laura. Rest easy, sweet friend.
