Grand Lake Elopement | Cheyenne & Terry
Terry set up a memorial for his late father-in-law just in front of their altar overlooking Grand Lake. Taking time with his sharp attention to detail, he made it so special for his bride just the way her father had envisioned. He readied the soil for their sweet yellow rose that was to be planted in memory. He made sure his grandparents had their seats next to it. Meanwhile, the sun beamed down on the lake, as dozens of birds skimmed the waters for fish with big, broad wings folding and unfolding. Cheyenne and Terry’s Grand Lake elopement was a fairytale.
There is nothing like the sound of a widow mourning her late husband. It is not just the sound of heartache, it is the sound of love. In a way, it can be as beautiful as it is difficult. As it is spoken so often, “Til death do us part.” Standing on the dock as Cheyenne and Terry were soon to begin their marriage, empathizing and feeling pieces of a void that a widow endures is incredibly moving. You could feel Cheyenne’s father’s presence, as he was absolutely there to give away his beautiful daughter.
The original site of the elopement was supposed to be in RMNP, but due to late season snowfall, the location had to be moved last minute. Not only that, there was supposed to be a procession from the original location towards Grand Lake that had to be cancelled all together. Thankfully, Cheyenne and Terry were patient and flexible, and toward the last minute, we figured out a different plan that could not have worked out better. It would not have been possible without the kind people of Daven Haven who opened up their place early to accommodate the reception. They were incredibly professional and kind to work with.
That’s one of the many beauties of eloping! It is your big day and you can literally make it to be whatever you like. You can plant a flower, you can find altars on waters surrounding by incredible mountaintops, and you can change plans last minute if necessary. We are completely flexible as well in regards to logistics, timing, format, etc. Get creative with it, and magical days like Cheyenne and Terry’s sweet elopement are possible!
Cheyenne and Terry, thank you so much for allowing us to capture your incredible day – we had so much fun with the Jeep at sunset and thank you for pointing out your waterfall proposal site around the corner! We had a blast and wish you all the best in your marriage!
