Colorful & Enchanting Bridal Veil Falls Elopement in Telluride
In the heart of Telluride where majestic Bridal Veil Falls cascades down a symphony of nature’s beauty, Samantha and Patrick embarked on an all-day intimate journey. As a husband and wife photography team based in Colorado, we had the honor of capturing their Bridal Veil Falls elopement. Check out this diverse and wildly beautiful land within the heart of the San Juan Mountains!
Bridal Veil Falls Elopement in Telluride
At 365 feet, Bridal Veil Falls is the tallest waterfall in Colorado. It falls into a red and hazel stoned cove of wonder. The patches of green foliage and wildflowers add even more color to one of the most majestic nooks in all of Colorado. This waterfall’s power is mesmerizing. We’ve been here when the waterfall was flowing so ferociously that we couldn’t even get anywhere near it without getting completely soaked!
We met Samantha & Patrick at dawn and helped them coordinate their first look. It was really great to explore the area and take portraits privately before anyone else arrived. Their laughter and cheer echoed about, and it was exhilarating to witness their joy together in this wildly inspiring space! Because of the many textures in this space, the tactile nature will most certainly make you feel some type of way.
The Tender Exchange of Vows
Shortly thereafter, nine guests of honor arrived. This is a great number because it’s small enough that most outdoor spaces can accommodate. Moreover, if something needs to be moved for weather or any other reason, communicating and coordinating this is pretty easily done.
Kevin officiated their ceremony against the backdrop of Bridal Veil Falls. They set up a small table adorned with cake, donuts, and mimosas for everyone to enjoy afterward. In the spirit of celebration, Samantha, Patrick, and their guests went out for brunch and got to spend quality time together. It was truly the most wonderful start to the day!
Multi-Adventure Elopement Day
If you want to have any friends and family present for your elopement, we recommend taking a page out of Samantha and Patrick’s book. One of the best ways to make use of your time is to have a sunrise ceremony with your people and then embark on a separate newlywed adventure for sunset! It extends the day that you get married and creates even more unique and cherished memories.
This provides plenty of time to spend and celebrate with guests in the first part of the day while also allowing separate, more private newlywed adventure in the evening. If you manage to take a nap in between, you get to wake up twice for your elopement and go on two separate excursions. This is best achieved during the summer when the days are at their longest.
Yankee Boy Basin at Sunset
For their newlywed adventure, we traversed Yankee Boy Basin and stopped along the way at another waterfall. Samantha and Patrick even dipped their toes in the water for their foot washing unity ceremony. By separating their unity ceremony from their vows, they intentionally created significance throughout their elopement day. This is a great way to create a cohesive elopement experience!
We have been up Yankee Boy Basin in many different vehicles. The smoothest and most capable vehicle we’ve ever experienced on this road was their Toyota Tacoma. It cut through the uneven road like butter!
Of course, there are a few Jeep rental companies in the area. The Jeeps do a pretty good job, but there was a noticeable difference between this Tacoma and a Jeep Rubicon. We have never taken a UTV, but these are also available to rent and would be really fun! UTVs are not completely enclosed so you would be susceptible to wind and dust. We recommend that you change into your wedding attire at the top of the mountain if you want to take a UTV.
