Rocky Mountain Intimate Wedding
First Look
Mercedes and J’s Rocky Mountain Intimate Wedding is full of sweetness and meaningful moments. We have plenty of time to visit Rocky Mountain National Park before their ceremony at Della Terra for a first look and other portraits. We trek over the frozen version Bear Lake to have the first look, which is always a good idea. It is a great use of time early in the day and creates over 100 priceless images for the sweet couple 🙂
Unity Ceremony & Different Names
Next, Mercedes and J plant aspen trees to signify their separate nature with intent to grow together as one beneath the surface. Indeed, aspen trees have roots that grow together as clonal colonies despite being separate trees above ground. Therefore, aspen trees are incredibly resilient. Incredibly, they are able to survive forest fires and even regrow new trees once others have died.
Also, Mercedes and J ceremoniously jump over the broomstick. This is an African-American tradition that symbolizes several ideas, including sweeping away any past darkness. In honor of his wife’s late father, J changed his last name to match hers. The beauty of this symbolism is humbling and everything we love about elopements. Make the day your own, and live it exactly how you feel best.
Puppy Love
Finally, since their pups cannot be present, Mercedes and J include them in the naming of their desserts. The cupcake flavors have the same colors as their dogs, Duchess and Leo. The finished creation is one of our favorite parts of the meal! Mercedes and J, thank you for breaking bread with us and allowing us to be a part of your Rocky Mountain intimate wedding!
