Where to Elope in Estes Park
The town of Estes Park is mainly comprised of homes, hotels, shops, and the National Park, so it’s important to choose a location that allows ceremonies. The most popular ceremony locations are located with in Rocky Mountain National Park, which you will need a permit in order to have your ceremony. Alternatively, there are a few specific locations outside of Rocky Mountain National Park located directly in the town of Estes Park. Be sure to do your research or hire a local expert who knows the area well and can properly guide you (like us 😉). Keep in mind, you can always go into the National Park for newlywed photos even if your ceremony is elsewhere.

Knoll-Willows
Knoll-Willows Open Space is a short trail that features views of the Rockies, Estes Park, & the Stanley hotel. Due to it’s size, we suggest limiting your group to 10 people or less.

Hermit Park
Hermit Park offers scenic meadows framed by pines, aspen groves, and foothills, with trails that lead to sweeping Rocky Mountain views. For ceremonies with guests (up to 150 people), you’ll need to reserve the Group Pavilion site.

Lake Estes
Lake Estes, located right in the heart of town, offers 360° mountain views and sandy shores. Small ceremonies (under 10 people) can be held along the lake, while larger groups need reservations through Estes Park Resort or the Marina Pavilion. Since the lake is a popular spot with boaters and visitors, sunrise will be more private.

O’Connor Pavilion
A peaceful meadow framed by mountain peaks and complete with a rustic pavilion, O’Connor Pavilion is perfect for gathering loved ones. It accommodates up to 350 guests (140 under the pavilion). It is available daily from May 23rd to September 30th, 9 AM – 10 PM. The rental is $3,000 for the day.



Rocky Mountain Wedding + Elopement Park
A charming, private outdoor setting for intimate celebrations. Exclusive 2-hour use for up to 25 guests. Rates are $825 Monday–Thursday, or $975 Friday–Sunday.
Riversong Inn
Nestled along the Big Thompson River, this cozy retreat offers a serene and romantic environment for smaller weddings of up to 20 guests. Packages start at $900.
YMCA of the Rockies
A versatile mountain venue with options for both intimate elopements and larger gatherings. The elopement site hosts up to 15 guests for 2 hours ($500 weekday / $1,000 weekend), while larger ceremony spaces can accommodate up to 250 guests.

For many couples dreaming of an Estes Park elopement, the real vision in their hearts is saying “I do” surrounded by the untamed beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. Just minutes from town, RMNP is truly one of the most spectacular places to elope in Colorado, offering sweeping alpine vistas, crystal-clear lakes, and wildlife that might just wander into your wedding photos!

The park has 13 designated ceremony sites (11 of which are easily accessible from Estes Park), each with its own unique blend of views, capacity, and amenities. From mountaintop overlooks to serene meadows, you can choose a location that perfectly matches your vision. For summer & fall elopements, we recommend obtaining your permit one year in advance, as they can fill up quickly.

Estes Park Marriage License
Before you exchange vows, you’ll need to get the government involved. Getting your marriage license is as simple as making an appointment at the Larimer County Clerk’s Office (conveniently located in Estes Park) to pickup your license. You will need to bring a valid ID. The offices are only open Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm. The process is very straightforward, and you can even self-solemnize in Colorado, which means you don’t need an officiant to make your marriage legal.
