Colorado Waterfall Elopement
Colorado Waterfall Elopement
L+A’s Colorado waterfall elopement took place in a private nook off of the beaten path. They had their own space to be fully present, exchange their vows when they felt ready, and take in every single moment. It brought their relationship full circle, symbolizing the adventure and journey of their magnetic passion and affection for one another.
Last year, L+A embarked on a three month road trip spanning the entire country: Utah, Colorado, Rhode Island, New York, South Carolina, Maine, and every state in between. It was during this time that they became engaged and started dreaming of the day they were to marry.
Naturally, L+A rented an RV and took to the open road to travel from the West Coast to Colorado to get married! They brought along their puppy, a couple of friends and their pup, and they made an entire experience out of it. L’s best friend, N, whom she met when they were five years old came along for the adventure and brought her partner too.
They began with a first look in the aspens, adventured to their very own towering waterfall, and ended up in a field of lavender wildflowers at sunset. Their “reception” included a campfire dinner beneath the stars!
Spontaneous Connection
It was important for L+A to have a connection with the elements and earth surrounding them. Standing barefoot beneath the waterfall with their feet upon the ground and toes dipped into the water provided them unity with the natural world. It gave them a healthy and divine foundation on which to stand during their ceremony. Their intentionality and thoughtfulness about their elopement was truly unique and priceless.
L+A did something we had never seen before: they played rock, paper, scissors to see who would speak their vows first. It was adorable, playful, and hilarious all at the same time. This was such a delightful spontaneous implication and exemplifies what elopements are all about.
Furthermore, L’s top belonged to her mother. L&N repurposed the fabric, bleached, and treated it in a way that created something unique and meaningful. It was such a wonderful way to create connection and continuity between generations!
One of a Kind
We subsequently revisited this waterfall when we were in the area again, and there was a landslide that moderately altered the landscape of these falls. Essentially, L+A are the only couple who will ever be married at this waterfall in quite this way. This highlights one aspect of why elopements are so personal and unique – no two are exactly alike.
